Heavy orders, packed to fit your courier.
Weight Split divides any order that's over your courier's weight limit into parcels that each fit, the moment the order comes in. No overweight fees, no rejected parcels, no splitting by hand.
Available now on the Shopify App Store.
Try it on a sample order: a stoneware planter, 3 mug sets, 2 cast-iron skillets and 2 packs of tea towels, 40.6 kg in total.
How it works
-
Set your limit
Enter your courier's maximum weight per parcel, for example 20 kg. Change it whenever your courier does.
-
An order comes in
Weight Split adds up the order using the product weights you've already set in Shopify.
-
Parcels are ready to ship
If the order is over the limit, it appears in Shopify as separate parcels, each ready for its own shipping label.
Your order stays one order.
Some splitting apps create brand-new orders, which can count revenue twice, change payment status or take stock out of inventory twice.
Weight Split only changes how the order is shipped. The order itself, its payment, your sales reports and your inventory stay exactly as they were.

Questions
Where does Weight Split get the weights from?
From the product weights you set in Shopify, in each product's Shipping section. Items without a weight count as 0 kg, and the app shows which items are missing one so you can fix them.
What happens if a single item is heavier than my limit?
It can't be split any further, so it goes into a parcel of its own and is marked as over the limit. Everything else in the order is still packed to fit.
Which orders does it split?
Orders shipped from your own locations. Orders fulfilled by a third-party fulfillment service or warehouse app are left alone.
How do the parcels show up in Shopify?
Each parcel becomes its own fulfillment inside the same order, which is how Shopify represents a separate shipment. You print a label for each one as usual.
Can I cancel Pro?
Yes, at any time from the app's Home page. You go back to the Free plan and can keep splitting orders with one click.
What data does Weight Split use?
Only what it needs to pack parcels: the items, quantities and weights in your orders. It doesn't store your customers' personal information. The privacy policy has the details.
