Hold Rules terms of service
Last updated 21 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between Worklea Services ("we", "us") and the business that installs the Hold Rules app on its Shopify store ("you"). By installing or using Hold Rules, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't install the app, or uninstall it.
1. The service
Hold Rules reads the items of each new order's fulfillment orders and their products' tags, vendor, product type and SKU. When items match one of your active rules, it automatically places a fulfillment hold on the fulfillment order, or on only the matching items (which makes Shopify split the fulfillment order), with the reason and note you set. You can release the app's holds by hand on any plan. On the Pro plan, the app also releases them automatically on the date or after the number of days you set, checked about every 15 minutes. The Free plan runs one active rule; Pro runs any number.
Hold Rules doesn't change order contents, totals, payments, inventory, products or customer details, and it never releases holds placed by you, your staff or other apps. It only holds orders fulfilled from your own locations, not those handled by a third-party fulfillment service.
2. Your responsibilities
- Keep your rules and product tags, vendors, types and SKUs accurate, and check the Held now list: orders the app holds won't ship until the hold is released, and orders that don't match a rule aren't held.
- Use the app only for lawful purposes and in line with Shopify's terms.
3. Plans and billing
- The Free plan costs nothing. The Pro plan is charged through Shopify, on your Shopify invoice, at the price shown in the app and on the Shopify App Store listing, every 30 days after a 7-day free trial.
- You can cancel a paid plan at any time from the app's Home page, or by uninstalling the app. When you cancel, Shopify may credit you for the unused part of the billing period.
- If we change prices, we'll tell you in advance, and the change only applies once you approve it in Shopify.
4. Data protection
This section is our data processing agreement with you. For your customers' personal data that Hold Rules accesses, you are the controller and we are your processor.
- Instructions. We process that data only to provide Hold Rules as described in these terms and the privacy policy, and for no other purpose.
- What we access. The line items of new orders' fulfillment orders, the order's ID and number, the holds on them, and the tags, vendor and product type of the products in them. We store your hold rules and the Shopify IDs of the holds the app placed. We don't request customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers or addresses.
- Confidentiality. Only people who work on Worklea, and who are bound to keep it confidential, can access the systems that run the app.
- Security. We use HTTPS for all traffic, verify that requests really come from Shopify, encrypt access credentials before storing them, keep them on a server with restricted access, and apply security updates.
- Sub-processors. Shopify (which provides the store data and billing) and our hosting provider, Hostinger (whose servers run the app). We'll update this list before adding another sub-processor.
- Breaches. If we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you without undue delay at your store's contact email and help you meet any obligations you have.
- Requests from your customers. We'll help you respond to customers who ask to see or delete their data. Shopify forwards these requests to us, and we answer them as described in the privacy policy.
- Deletion. When you uninstall Hold Rules, we delete your store's access credentials, hold rules and hold records, and anything remaining 48 hours later when Shopify asks us to.
- We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
5. Availability and changes
We work to keep Hold Rules running reliably, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve or change the app; if a change removes something you rely on, we'll tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
6. Disclaimer
Hold Rules is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we don't give any warranties beyond those set out in these terms.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, and our total liability to you for any claim related to Hold Rules is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
8. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or use the app in a way that harms others, and we may stop offering Hold Rules with at least 30 days' notice.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
